Forget about experimenting with natural medicines when treating Crohns. Just go straight for the proven remedies and save yourself the physical and financial pain.
THE RIGHT ADVICE THE FIRST TIME = A HEALTHY BODY AND HEALTHIER BANK BALANCE
Probiotics
Studies show that long term treatment with probiotics can lead to remission of Crohns in up to 85% of patients. The two types of probiotics include bifidobacteria and saccharomyces.
Probiotics need to be taken daily. The recommended dosage for saccharomyces is 250mg three times daily.
(If you are currently taking antibiotics, seperate the dose by 2 hours to prevent the death of good bacteria.)I recommend using

Fish Oil
Studies on Fish Oil have shown inconsistent results for Crohns. Some studies have shown a reduction in the rate of relapses however in other studies it has shown no difference to using placebo.

Psyllium
Psyllium, taken 10grams twice daily has shown to be of benefit to bloating, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. It also appears to have an anti-inflammatory effect. The best way to add psyllium to your diet is to add the husks to your breakfast cereal or if that doesn't suit you can also take
Psyllium Husk Capsules
.

Vitamins and Minerals
It is agreed that Crohn's patients need to supplement because of the malabsorption, but as I mentioned earlier, these nutrients do little in the treatment of the two main symptoms of diarrhea and abdominal pain but may help prevent weight loss.
Bromelain
A study completed on 51 patients with
ulcerative colitis
and Crohn's disease showed that bromelain does reduce inflammation in IBD patients.
After treatment with bromelain, pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines were reduced.
Note: this study was done on colon biopsies in vitro. Researchers are yet to complete the study on patients orally. If you would like some more information on Bromelain, click on this link

Don't bother with these ones:
beta glucans, barley, green tea, oat bran, chlorella, wild indigo, spleen extract.
There has been no evidence that these will help Crohn's.
In Summary
Most Crohn's patients at one time or another, try natural medicines.
My suggestion would be to stick to the remedies that have been proven to help because of the fact that the gastrointestinal tract is very sensitive and there are natural medicines that can actually worsen the symptoms of Crohn's.
Please check with your health practitioner before attempting any of these suggestions.
