Fibromyalgia and Proven Natural Medicine

Suffering from fibromyalgia and want a natural cure or want to use natural medicines?

Do you know what to use?

This page will give you the information you need to decide which natural medicine has been proven to work and which ones are a waste of time and money.

St.Johns wort does not help fibromyalgia

St. Johns Wort

Although a very effective anti-depressant, this plant provides no evidence that it has any benefit to fibromyalgia patients. As of date, there have been no studies linking St.Johns Wort and fibromyalgia.

SAMe is a proven natural medicine for fibromyalgia

SAMe

SAMe 400mg, 30 tabs: W
So far, there have been a couple of promising studies between fibromyalgia and SAMe. Pain, fatigue and stress have been shown to improve with the use of SAMe. For a pain and stress free day, you only need to take one tablet a day. Click on the image to learn more.

Magnesium helps fibromyalgia

Magnesium

The muscle relaxant appears to be effective in treating pain but only when in combination with malic acid. The studies have only been small and preliminary but Magnesium is a very safe mineral to use and has a long record of use in muscle pain and stiffness related to fibromyalgia. To be able to do more with your day see Douglas Lab's Malic Acid & Magnesium 180 tabs

Valerian/Passionflower/German Chamomile

These herbs have long been known to benefit insomnia but as of date there have been no studies done between them and fibromyalgia.

Panax Ginseng/Astragalus/Withania

These herbs have been shown to be efective for fatigue and stress however there is no current evidence that they will be beneficial for fibromyalgia.

5-HTP for fibromylagia

5-HTP

5-HTP is important in the synthesis of serotonin. Studies have shown success with the use of 5-HTP and fibromyalgia as it does reduce tender points and can improve overall fatigue, sleep, pain and anxiety. However, because of its' involvement with L-Tryptophan (L-Trytophan is converted to 5-HTP), it is not reccomended to be used as a supplement because of the possible activation of EMS (Eosonophilia-myalgia syndrome). Becuase of the risk of developing this disorder, it is not advisable to take 5-HTP for fibromylagia.

Turmeric

Turmeric acts as an anti-inflammatory and was thought to help fibromylagia up until the discovery that fibromyalgia is not a disorder of inflammation.

HGH for fibromyalgia

Human Growth Hormone

Many fibromylagia patients have disturbed sleep and so HGH levels have been tested as this is produced during non-REM sleep. Results have shown that with daily injections of this hormone from your doctor, symptoms do improve. This type of therapy is not readily available over the counter and you must consult your doctor. Do not be fooled by advertised HGH available without a prescription, these will not be true human growth hormones. It is not known whether these over the counter HGH preperations have any benefit for fibromyalgia.

Capsaicin

When used topically at a preperation of 0.025% it has been shown that capsaicin can significantly reduce pain associated with fibromyalgia when applied to tender points. For this 0.025% preparation please see Naturework's Swedish Bitters Capsaicin Cream 4 oz

In Summary

If you are suffering with fibromyalgia, then you need to do some research on yourself. Until researchers find a cause and better diagnosis techniques, you have to assume that the triggers are as mentioned, viral and/or stress related. If you think it is one or both of these then you need to treat accordingly and use this information as a guide.
