FIBROMYALGIA
I have placed fibromyalgia in the musculoskeletal section because this is how fibromyalgia sufferers feel, i.e they feel pain in their muscles.
Fibromyalgia is still a bit of a mystery to researchers because there are no clear tests that can help diagnose this condition.
Instead, when referring to fibromyalgia, we are referring to a collection of symptoms. Diagnosis is difficult as well and is based on patient history and physical examinations.
Symptoms of Fibromyalgia:
- Chronic widespread pain
- Pain in multiple areas of the body
- Fatigue
- Headaches
- Mild depression
- Bowel and intestinal disturbances
Causes of Fibromyalgia
Although there are no proven known causes, there are a few theories, these include:
- Viral infection
- Stress
